The Tools for Microsoft Dynamics Visual Basic class is designed for the professional programmer who plans to make Tools for Visual Basic a significant part of their development tool kit.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Dynamics SL are prerequisites for this training class. The training material is targeted toward developers who need to understand the technical aspects of Microsoft Dynamics Tools for Visual Basic. The training material is not intended for non-development staff.

After completing this training course, an individual should be able to:

• Create a VB Tools table maintenance program from start to finish that is fully integrated with the Microsoft Dynamics SL accounting system.
• Create a VB Tools maintenance program that maintains a one to many relationship between two tables.
• Create a VB Tools maintenance program that maintains a many-to-many relationship between two tables.
• Create a VB Tools process program that cycles through and update multiple records, logging any errors encountered during the process.
• Integrate VB Tools programs into the Microsoft Dynamics SL security system.
• Integrate VB Tools programs into the Microsoft Dynamics SL Menu facility.
• Handle conflicts arising from multiple users accessing the same records at the same time.
• Print reports from the Microsoft Dynamics SL menu or from within your VB Tools  programs.
• Implement and modify the F3 lookup functionality found throughout the Microsoft Dynamics SL product.
• Support the Microsoft Dynamics SL Notes functionality.
• Understand the concept of levels and how items like buffers, cursors, key fields, and DBnav properties combine to implement them.
• Understand what a VB Tools memory array is and how to take advantage of this powerful structure.
• Implement the Microsoft Dynamics SL process Status window in process programs to communicate with the user and the event log.
• Name and compile VB Tools programs to comply with Microsoft Dynamics SL naming standards.
• Understand how to implement the Microsoft Dynamics SL Common Object Model (COM) to perform application automation.

Prerequisites

Before using this training material, an individual must have:

• A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 9x/NT.

• A basic knowledge of accounting terms and processes.

• A good working knowledge of SQL Server.
  
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic
